Santa Teresa is my favorite neighborhood in Rio, and I loved being able to make the most of every moment in the city while staying close to everything I wanted to do. When we arrived, the guesthouse was immaculate. The bed linens were clean and everything was beautifully arranged. We were welcomed with the warmest smile, and everything in the house was explained to us clearly. The view from the veranda was absolutely breathtaking — it could not have been otherwise. Whenever we had questions about outings, Flávia gave us wonderful advice based on the itinerary I had planned, always with great kindness. Mr. Thomas was very kind to carry our bags to the room, and the breakfast served at the guesthouse, prepared by her son Sean, was always wonderful. The experience was fantastic and absolutely worth it!”

“Our host, Flávia, welcomed us very warmly. We arrived after 10 p.m. and, despite the late hour, the family gave us a very warm welcome. It has a friendly, family atmosphere, an air-conditioned room and a spacious guesthouse at the foot of the Santa Teresa hill, with the tram passing right in front. The traditional house offers beautiful views of many of the city’s sights. A very welcoming place where we would gladly stay again when we return to Rio.”

Villa Dourada Boutique Guesthouse is a boutique guesthouse in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, created for travelers looking for an authentic, welcoming stay with local character.
Set in a 1916 house at Rua Joaquim Murtinho 531, the guesthouse is managed by Flávia and Thomas with their family. Sean is part of the daily rhythm of the house, and Hatchi, the family’s American Hairless Terrier, adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
The idea is to offer private suites with private bathrooms, outdoor areas, a tropical garden, a veranda and a boutique stay in Rio de Janeiro, closer to the cultural atmosphere of Santa Teresa than to a generic hotel.
